Valleytown Surf Club

Dundas sits at the bottom of a valley the Iroquois and later the township called the Valley Town, a name the town took as its own when it was incorporated in 1847. The escarpment rises on three sides. The water, such as it is, moves through Spencer Creek and over Webster's Falls, then goes wherever creeks go.

The nearest surfable coastline is a day's drive. The nearest ocean is a flight and then another flight. Valleytown Surf Club meets anyway, on the schedule a surf club keeps, to discuss board selection, wax temperature and the swell nobody here has ever personally felt.

Meetings are held. Boards are owned. A member in good standing can tell you the difference between a fish and a shortboard without having ridden either.
